Because he was dissatisfied with the weight and stiffness of the material on his first ski tour, aeronautical engineer Howard Head developed the sandwich construction of skis, which is still in use today, at the end of the winter of 1947. The company Head was founded in 1950 initially as a pure ski company, but very soon tennis rackets were also developed - including the legendary Arthur Ashe racket in the 1980s and the revolutionary titanium tennis rackets around the turn of the millennium. Even today, the ski and tennis production areas complement each other in an innovative way at Head, and Head is one of the most sought-after brands worldwide in both sports.
