The Speedminton Rules

Rules of Speedminton

The Game Set

A game set ends with 16 winning points. In case of a tie at 15:15, the set goes into overtime, with 2 points advantage needed to win. A match consists of three winning sets.

The Serve

The right to serve first and the choice of side are decided by a coin toss. The serve is done in blocks with 3 serves per player. Every played rally scores a point. In case of a tie at 15:15, the right to serve changes after every point. The service can be executed either from the center of the court or from behind the back boundary line. During the serve, the speeder is dropped from hip height in front of the body and then hit. Overhead serves from a standing position or jump are only allowed from the back boundary line. The player who lost the previous set has the first serve of the next set.

Scoring

Every rally is counted, unless it has to be repeated. Points are scored when

  • a legal serve is not successful
  • the speeder touches the ground
  • the speeder lands in the playing field and cannot be returned (The lines are counted as part of the playing field)
  • the speeder lands "out"
  • the speeder is hit twice in a row
  • the speeder touches the body If a speeder is played outside the playing field, it is considered accepted.

Change of Sides

After each set, the sides are changed to ensure equal chances (wind and light conditions). If there is a fifth set (deciding set), the sides are changed as soon as a player reaches 8 points.

The Doubles

The doubles are played on two adjacent courts.

The Serve in Doubles

The coin toss decides which pair has the first serve. The server has three consecutive serves, just like in singles, but always into the diagonally opposite court. For each serve, the server changes court with their partner. The first of the three serves is always from right to diagonally left. If the serve is returned, the player pairs can move freely in their respective courts to play the speeder. Once all four players have served, the first server serves again. The first serve of the next set is made by the party that lost the previous set.

The Playing Field, Game Variations, and Equipment

Freestyle

Free play without a court and rules - casual play on the beach, long rallies at dusk, or extreme shots in the park have their special charm. Anywhere there is enough space for the speeders to fly up to 30 meters. For those who prefer to speed instead of sleep at night, there is the specially developed Night Speeder, which can hold glowing glow sticks in its translucent strike cap.

Fun Match

The Fun Court is the simplest and most spontaneous game field variation of Speedminton. With the orange Gecko goal markers, goals can be quickly set up anywhere in any width and at any distance for a fun match. The smaller the goal distance, the faster the rally. The larger the goal, the higher the fitness effect. Speedminton Rules Freestyle

Indoor Competition

Tennis courts are the perfect game field in any weather. With a few simple steps, a tennis court can be modified into two independent Speed Courts. With additional rubber lines, the T-line can be extended to the sides and towards the baseline in seconds. No further modifications are necessary. The net does not matter.
Two pairs of players can share a tennis court; they can play either singles or doubles according to the match rules. Speedminton Rules Freestyle

Outdoor Competition

There are many possibilities to play for points outdoors. In addition to using outdoor tennis courts, the Speed Court can be placed anywhere where there is enough space for the 23.8 m long and 5.5 m wide playing field. Whether as permanently lined fields or spontaneously drawn with chalk on concrete for a match in between.
The playing field is also available as a mobile court made of webbing, the Easy Court. The Easy Court can be fixed on all soft surfaces with pegs. Everything you need for this is included in the set. Speeding in the sand has an additional fitness effect. In order to be able to secure the court well in the sand, there are plastic sand anchor plates. Two courts side by side allow for doubles play according to the match rules. Speedminton Rules Freestyle

Nightplay - Backminton

Experience the feeling of playing under the starry sky! If you want to continue speeding when darkness falls, grab the Night Speeder and the Speedlights.
The Night Speeder, specially designed for playing at night, can hold glowing glow sticks in its strike cap. Simply bend the Speedlight and load it into the air channel of the strike cap - done.
The speeder then flies like a shooting star through the night.
